Computer Science and High School Math Teacher Position
The Greene School is seeking a versatile and knowledgeable Computer Science and High School Math Teacher to join our team. As a combined teacher, you will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging lessons in both computer science and math subjects. Your expertise in both disciplines will inspire students to explore the fields of computer science and mathematics and develop essential skills for their future. Responsibilities:
1. Develop and deliver computer science and math curriculum aligned with relevant standards and educational objectives.
2. Create engaging lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments to facilitate effective learning experiences in both computer science and math.
3. Teach computer science principles, programming languages, algorithms, data structures, and other relevant topics.
4. Introduce students to various programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript, and guide them in building coding skills.
5. Teach various math subjects, such as Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, and Statistics, at the high school level. 6. Provide clear explanations and examples, and facilitate student understanding through guided practice and active participation in both computer science and math.
7. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including hands-on activities, real-world applications, and technology integration, to enhance student engagement and comprehension in both subjects.
8. Assess student performance regularly, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records of grades and progress in both computer science and math.
9. Support and guide students in their exploration of computer science and math concepts, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking abilities.
10.Provide individualized support and guidance to students to meet their unique learning needs and goals in both computer science and math.
11.Foster a collaborative and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation and respect for diverse perspectives.
12.Stay updated with advancements in computer science, educational technology, mathematical pedagogy, and relevant teaching methodologies in order to enhance instruction in both subjects.
13.Collaborate with colleagues, attend professional development opportunities, and actively contribute to curriculum development and improvement initiatives in both computer science and math.
14.Establish positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, and communicate effectively regarding student progress and any concerns in both subjects.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
2. Teaching certification or licensure in Computer Science and Mathematics (preferred).
3. Prior experience teaching computer science and math at the middle or high school level (preferred).
4. Strong knowledge of computer science principles, programming languages, algorithms, data structures, and mathematical concepts.
5. Proficiency in at least one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript.
6. Familiarity with educational technology tools, software, and platforms used for teaching computer science and math.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage students and collaborate with colleagues and parents.
8. Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports students' diverse needs and backgrounds in both subjects.
9. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively.
10.Passion for computer science and math education and a commitment to inspiring students to pursue careers in technology and mathematics.
